English description provided by the architects.
DinellJohansson designed a fruit kiosk in central Stockholm, at Fridhemsplan. For sixteen years, Gazmend Likaj has been selling fruit at Fridhemsplan.
Loved by the local community and with countless regular customers, he now has a kiosk of his own.
It means less hard work for him, but the same great fruit for us. We were happy to help.
The brief was to create a flexible and space-efficient kiosk whose geometry would adapt to the existing trees in the square.
The ambition was to avoid having a rear facade facing the park; instead, we proposed glazing all around the kiosk, allowing the park to remain visible through the building.
The sloping roof and neon sign above announce the kiosk toward Fridhemsgatan.
During the day, the facades come to life as the shutters are opened to display the fruit, which is protected by two fixed canopies and large awnings along the shorter sides.
