English description provided by the architects.
Located in a village near Valle de Bravo, Rancho CP is set on a forested site with views of the surrounding mountains.
The project was conceived as an equestrian ranch designed as a retreat in direct contact with nature, integrating spaces for horseback riding and interaction with the horses as an essential part of everyday life.
The proposal is composed of clearly defined volumes topped with gabled roofs, drawing from the local architectural tradition and reinterpreting it through a contemporary language.
Vehicular access is marked by two retaining walls that organize the site and guide circulation toward the main house and the stables, which are currently under construction.
The house is organized into two volumes that frame a central courtyard, which serves as the project's main organizing element.
The primary volume accommodates the social spaces—including the living and dining areas, kitchen, family room, study, and terrace—while the second volume contains the bedrooms, bathrooms, wine cellar, and steam room, connected through a walkway and courtyard.
The orientation of the main volume, overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains, is leveraged through a large skylight integrated into the roof, bringing natural light into the interior while enhancing thermal comfort.
The beam structure extends outward to form a pergola over the terrace, reinforcing the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The kitchen is integrated into the social area through a central volume that acts as a spatial filter.
The material palette, based on pigmented plaster applied across walls, floors, and screens, unifies the project through a monochromatic expression, creating a clear volumetric reading and a serene atmosphere.
