On an ancient wine pool, built of reinforced concrete, a volume of antagonistic material tectonics is added to the existing structure, following the industrial logic of the sector.
A piece emerges that begins to respond to the new needs of current character and material logic. An office that oversees the development and movements of an industrial plant on the outskirts of San Rafael, Mendoza.
The metallic block is positioned parallel to the pre-existing warehouses, with views oriented to the southwest, where the mountains are located, and proposes an outdoor expansion area on the terrace.
The construction of the piece in the workshop helped in various ways. On one hand, it optimized the material, and on the other hand, it provided compositional order.
The modulation appears to respect the pre-existing walls of the concrete pool, distributing the loads. The structure is resolved through a system of portals that features a double roof, providing shade and ventilation to the office.
The new rests upon the old, giving the whole a sense of temporality.
