Conceived as a temporary intervention within a context devoid of strong spatial references, the project presents itself as an enigmatic, almost extraterrestrial presence—an object whose origin appears indeterminate, as if it had descended abruptly into the urban fabric.
Positioned along a tree-lined avenue in Beijing's commercial core, a compact triangular volume of metamorphic stone establishes a deliberate contrast with its surroundings, asserting both autonomy and indifference.
The design is driven by a precise and intentional gesture, grounded in the clarity of essential geometry. The triangle, as a primordial and inherently stable figure, operates here as both form and concept—a wedge inserted into the city that negotiates between rational order and perceptual experience.
Its three faces are defined through a calibrated selection of marble surfaces: gray-white and black-gold tones are punctuated by subtle green hues, introducing a restrained yet distinct variation.
The natural textures and chromatic depth of the stone are carefully cut and rhythmically arranged, transforming raw material into a composed architectural language.
This compositional rigor is disrupted by a singular circular aperture, which punctures the mass and emits a warm, diffused light suggestive of an internal core.
From this opening, a beaten copper element projects outward, capturing and reflecting light while introducing a tactile and material counterpoint to the otherwise austere stone envelope.
Despite its apparent solidity, the volume resists a sense of weight. Slightly elevated above the ground plane, it reveals a recessed shadow gap that visually detaches the structure from its base.
This subtle suspension reduces its perceived mass and introduces a latent tension, allowing the pavilion to oscillate between grounded presence and hovering object.
Set within the continuous flow of the city, the installation creates a momentary pause.
Rather than functioning as a static artifact, it acts as an active presence—one that engages passersby, recalibrates perception, and momentarily alters the cadence of the surrounding urban environment.
