PARALLEL
The drying yard nestles on the mid-slope of Gaoligong Mountains' eastern flank in Mangkuan Yi-Dai Township.
Aligned with the meridional Hengduan Ranges, it basks in prolonged sunlight from dawn to dusk. Enveloped by the mountain's primal grandeur, the new structure dissolves into the terrain with lightweight humility.
CANOPY
Gaoligong's dense arboreal tapestry inspired the design. Tree-mimicking canopy structures elevate the drying frame, distilling traditional forms. Staggered multi-unit frameworks evoke a forest-floor spatial rhythm beneath interlaced "branches".
MASSING
To harmonize with vernacular scales, the framework fragments into four terraced segments. Their stepped recession creates an ordered cascade. Functioning as a pivotal coffee processing node, the structure manifests as a mountain-top "Coffee Station" – a transitional haven for harvest rituals.
GREEN
- Green: Gaoligong's vital hue pulses through the design.- Verdant Green (new growth): Applied to purlins, gusset plates, and service cabins. Dissolves mass under shifting light.
-Forest Green (tree trunks): Coats columns and beams, anchoring upward thrust. -Earthbound Green (roots): Clads column bases, fusing structure to soil.
