Located 100 meters above sea level, in the Caboclo neighborhood of Paraty, the house is immersed in a natural incline of Atlantic forest that extends to form the Serra da Bocaina.
It is the last elevation where construction is allowed in the municipality for the protection of the city's landscape heritage by IPHAN, which preserves the configuration of the green-vegetated mountain surrounding the historic whitewashed city by the sea.
The construction challenges, whether related to the transportation of materials or the execution and implementation on-site, led to a lightweight architecture, made of industrialized wood, which facilitated the desire for a single-story house in this sloped context, supported by only a few points on the ground.
The construction was logically and sequentially designed in a geometric structure that contrasts with the natural surroundings:
four triangulated beams form spatial pyramids and organize the base for the continuation of the work with beams and columns.
Elevated above the ground, accessed by a walkway from the highest point, is the main part of the house, resembling a boat that floats above the forest, static, 100 meters above sea level.
