Located on a windswept coast line, Moonlight Cabin is a place of retreat which engages with its environment’s ephemeral conditions.

The brief was for a small, simple and efficient building to accommodate a couple and their two children in the tradition of a remote hideaway.

The result is a small cabin with simple furnishings and accommodation; a double bed, bunks, bathroom, lounge and kitchen.

These spaces have been cleverly integrated into a central island pod, surrounded by a perimeter corridor which provides continuous habitable space. The planning is efficient as possible, with no space wasted.

The cabin is clad in a timber ‘rain-screen’ which acts like a ‘gore-tex jacket’, protecting the occupants from the elements while allowing the exterior to move naturally in the changing climatic conditions.
