House in Roteselaar

In 2010 our architectural agency was asked to construct a dwelling on an exceptional plot in Rotselaar.

The house is entirely open-plan (timber frame - 26.3 m by 4.5 m), with volumes and levels dictating and organising the various functions and spaces.

By disconnecting the individual sleeping areas, we aimed to create spatial perceptions that ensure constant contact with the lower and upper functions.

The particular window location provides various views to the outside and ensures natural daylight for each of the 'room' functions in the house.

Inclusion of a heat pump, underfloor heating, extensive insulation, ventilation as well as its favorable orientation allows the property to perform very well in terms of energetics.

K 33 and E 40. The exterior of the house has been designed using one of the most ecological façade materials:

Bamboo sticks placed within black lacquered steel frames ensure the house integrates perfectly with the surrounding forest.
