Sonoma Connect 5

This project was the first Connect Home done for a client. It's a standard five-module Connect 5 (1,600 sq. ft., 2BD, 2BA), lovingly adapted by the client for her mother to age in place.

The client worked with us to make about one hundred changes to the base model Connect 5 — everything from zeroing out the approach to the house and minimizing door thresholds.

To planning for specific storage needs, to specifying an accessible upright soaking tub, and optimizing the house's glazing to a beautiful oak tree (in back) and to the amazing view of Sonoma Valley (in front).

Because of the flexibility of the Connect Homes modules, these changes were accommodated while keeping home costs under $190 / sq. ft., delivered and installed.

Connect Homes are built in a factory in Southern California (San Bernardino to be precise), where the housing modules are 95% complete before shipping to the site.

interior and exterior finishes, doors, windows, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire sprinklers, roofing, and flooring are all done in the factory.

This means they only require about 2–3 weeks of finish work on site.

Only some exterior metal trim, the 8" gap between the modules, and the gutter and downspout system needs to be done on-site.

The next chance to see a Connect Home in person is February 15, 2015, when we debut our first two-story home — the Bonsall Connect 8.
