Located next to an existing main building, the new house is designed to accommodate a young family with one child.
Focusing on “the distance” between these two, the form of new building on a constrained narrow site is determined by several factors; daylighting, privacy, and accessibility.
The daylight for the main building is maintained by adopting a semicircular geometry with an inclined roof; the highest at the south end, as lowering toward the north.
The exterior wall is a multi-purpose integrated shelving-wall system, not only to fulfill family’s need as a display/closet, but also to function as a structural wall, while maintaining a privacy against views through the exterior wall openings.
