SMACH constellation of art, culture and history in the Dolomites, is an open-air exhibition that uses the binomial "art and nature", where the latter acts as a place for artistic actions, designed and created specifically for the various sites.

This is an international art competition that this year has reached its fourth edition.

The selected artists have created their installations in 10 locations of historical and cultural interest in the municipalities of San Martino in Badia and Marebbe.

The artistic works are intended to arouse interest in art and to enhance the Dolomite territory in which they are immersed. Through the dialogue between art and nature we want to support a deep and in-depth knowledge of the historical, cultural and traditional aspects of the territory.

Visitors will be involved on the emotional side by a prolific combination of extraordinary nature, timeless architecture and contemporary art. SMACH is an international open call for artists.

The fourth edition of SMACH focuses on the word "Heimat": this is not a simple noun. As is known, it turns out to be untranslatable in many languages, including English and Italian.

Attempts to bring him back to concepts like "native land" are trivializing, if not misleading. Heimat has in itself a much stronger identity.

Heimat does not simply identify a place, but a set of shared and spontaneous values, which lead back to the dimension of childhood, evoking the positive feeling that is unleashed in us when we think of our origins, our identity or, on the contrary, the sense of solitude and powerlessness that manifests itself when we perceive the loss of this bond.
