Gueto House is a holiday home on the shore of Villarrica Lake in southern Chile, specifically on the road between Villarrica and Pucon.

The site is a gentle hillside overlooking the lake.

One of the first challenges of this project was to comply with a local ordinance providing that the slopes of the roofs must be at least 40°.

Another problem is that as the site is a condominium with established design guidelines, we had to respect all of the guidelines related to certain materials, heights, spacings, fences, typologies and colors, among others.

This house is elevated over the site in order to take advantage of all the views, and to make a better distribution of the program.

On the first floor is the access and services, on the second floor is the family program.

The distribution is basically an open floor plan, communicated through a corridor with the bedrooms area.

This freedom in the program was especially designed for collective leisure, allowing for a shared use of the rooms.

The interior meets the exterior linking all programs, kitchen, dining room, living room and terrace.

We designed a special sliding glass system, which runs through two connected axes, allowing for the living / dining / kitchen to be connected with the terrace during the summer, and separated during the winter.

As this is a second home, for temporary use, we designed facilities for the summer vacationer. Hence, the bathrooms separate the vanity, and the kitchen is connected to the dining room.

The materials include a steel structure, wood, and larch shingles with CONAF sustainable management certification for monolithic cladding.

Finishes include volcanic stones and marbles, as a way of integrating architecture to its context.
