Text description provided by architect.
The Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes houses the seat of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y Leon, the Professional Music Conservatory, a 500-seat chamber music room, a 1700-seat auditorium, the Symphony Orchestra hall, class rooms and rehearsing rooms for the Drama High School, the Professional Dance School and the Experimental Theatre.
Both the auditorium and the chamber music hall are technically state-of-the-art and provide excellent acoustic conditions.
The 400/600-seat experimental theater hall was designed to offer almost unlimited versatility to accommodate a wide variety of shows.
The scheme integrates three differentiated parts unified under one wave-shape roof, a symbolic form that represents the sound waves of the music. The three buildings, within a single envelope, are distributed around a large covered open central space, conceived as an interactive atrium.
This public facility allows for the development of a new program of activities, thus contributing to the regeneration of the local area by offering a range of valuable cultural services to the wider community.
