House Oscar is a villa designed for one private family, located on a site by the water on Stora Essingen in central Stockholm, Sweden.
The house has three levels with the entrance on the second floor. Due to the high density of houses in the neighborhood the house has three semi closed facades, but is wide open with a glass facade towards the seaside in southwest.
The social areas are all situated towards the southwest façade, with a view over the sea Mälaren. The house has either a balcony or terrace on each floor, to maximum the view over the nice surroundings.
On the third floor there is an open roof terrace and on the second level a balcony outside the kitchen.
Different ceiling heights between the social rooms create a dynamics together with the straight stair case connecting the floors.
Even the stair well frames the sea view as you have the water in sight as you walk down and the sky in sight when you walk up.
Because of the beams and columns continuing the shape of a cube on the third floor terrace, it creates a feeling of being in a room.
