Abercrombie & Fitch’s Building U houses IT support and related functions on the second and third floors of the three story building.
The second floor main entry, which is located in the prominent south façade, is signaled by a dynamic exterior stair that leads to the reception area and conference room.
Voids and solids playfully express entry and conference room destinations which cantilever from the façade and overlook fields and a pond from within the treetops.
The exterior stair ducks in and out of the building envelope enhancing one’s experience of arriving at the entry/reception area.
This celebration of arrival is echoed inside with airy, communicating stairs punctuated by overlapping platform landings.
The open studio plan encourages communication and collaboration while affording generous natural lighting and views to the landscape. The mailroom/shipping and receiving areas are adjacent to the exterior equipment hidden from view on the pedestrian oriented campus.
Corrugated metal and cedar siding decrease the scale of the 140,000 square foot building while knitting it into the existing and future fabric of the campus.
