The plot is surrounded on three sides cy the road, and on the fourth by semi-detached house. Zoning requirements demanded hip roof with round tiles.

CONCEPT

The house is divided in two separate buildings: the main - family house and accessory - guest house.

Slight tlt of 60 ° creates a relationship between the two buildings that exsists solely as a set.

Mass composition is activated by two volumes with an empty space in between which is connected with a porch on one side and an atrium on the other. The genius loci of the Mediterranean primarily binds us to the arcades, porches and atrium.

ATRIUM

Atrium, besides obstructions of views, allows shading in the summer so necessary in this climate zone. Exterior openings are narrow and reduced to the streets and neighbours, while very open to the atrium. The roof is ventilated double oblique, visible from the atrium.

WALL SCREEN

The same elements are used for the composition of the facades on both houses.

On the southern front screen turns into columns to an atrium open to the advantageous side of the world and the garden, while the north façade is very reduced.

ORGANIZATION

The ground floor of a house, consisted of main living spaces (living room, dining room and swimming pool), as well as first floor rooms are oriented towards the atrium. Atrium is connected with the ground floor as a place of interaction of interior and exterior.

MATERIAL

All the materials are used from the immediate environment. As Istria is known for its stone, cloth facade is made of indigenous Istrian stone in Kanfanar rigato treatment, while the pavement around the house is done in sandstone.
