The project is located in the Pius XII private school, across the current sports field, in the district of Surco, Lima-Peru. The initial call was a private competition, which we won 1st place.

Initial considerations of the project were the versatility and flexibility of the space.

The project started from a study of pedestrian flows in the school, through which it was suggested that the building be a place with natural accessibility, and where users enter the project in a natural way, integrating the building to the school’s outdoor space.

Further considerations (which are based on the client’s prerequisite) required considering a modular structure that would allow future expansions without greatly affecting the building.

The structure is based on a metallic folded profile supported by “H” columns. This folded profile allowed us an increased permeability with the exterior because we solved the structure with smaller sections and therefore achieved greater transparency.

The multipurpose room space can accommodate different school activities, such as lunches, receptions, conferences, meetings and karaoke. It was suggested that the enclosures slide open so that the space is accessible to the continued entry of students and parents.

The material logic considers the highest visual permeability outward, and to accentuate the folded profile to some extent (with a natural wood lattice) that projects towards the sports field.
