In the south and west the building is surrounded by meadows and ponds. The Andechs ridge and the Alps form the horizon.
The areas in the north are commercial and residential. The exterior walls of the Atelier building grow up from the asphalt surface of the former parking lots.
This suggests the concave configuration of the base in the same texture as the surrounding road surfaces. It creates a transition between parking surface and the well-dressed white wall.
All interior spaces benefit equally from light and views. The inner experiences of space is created by different volumes of scuptured forward and backward jumps, vertical and horizontal vistas from wall to wall and widely varying ceiling heights.
The atmosphere of the space continuum is characterized by the material and the clear daylight guidance from the south facade.
The warm red of the bare brick masonry of exterior walls and the natural concrete of the interior walls and ceilings testify the fresh impression of a shell.
No material overlaps another. Simple steel staircase adds the impression of a workshop or - French – an Atelier.
There is a special place emerged for creative work: Contemplative, appropriate, direct.
