This is the first major public project designed by Hutchison & Maul Architecture. The site is located in the Canyon Park Development north of downtown Bothell.
The new 2-story 16,000 sf administration building utilizes conventional steel framing with metal siding and roofing. The building is long and narrow, and oriented in the east-west direction to minimize solar gain and maximize natural cross ventilation through operable windows.
Program requirements included spaces for offices, locker rooms, and a lunch room which is designed to serve as a back-up EOC and public meeting room.
A second floor open office area provides expansive views across wetlands to the north through a large window wall, and balanced natural light is provided through large roof skylight.
A deep roof cantilever at the west end of the building reduces sun exposure and provides for a covered outdoor patio area adjacent to the lunch room.
The City is seeking LEED Silver certification for the administration building.
