Text description provided by architect.

White and black, transparent and opaque, bright and muffled, these are the opposite pairs that describe the spirit of the original idea of this commercial building designed by Buratti+Battiston Archtects.

It is a store and showroom for building materials, interior finishing and bath furniture, built at the entrance of a small town. The relation between the two buildings, placed in front of a busy road , arrange the entire site hiding the material-movements square in the back.

White, transparent, bright and open is the volume of the showroom, black, opaque, muffled and closed is the warehouse.

An interesting theme of this projects, like others of Buratti+Battiston Architects, is finding high architectonic quality but with low budget.

It was a process to reduce to the essence, to get simple and needful elements composition, to find minimal signs, but above all to control the scale of buildings.

Two architectonic monoliths, like two stones carefully placed according to the urban complexity of the site; One is heavy and completely close, clad with black concrete and gravel panels marked by vertical joints; the other, light, glass-made and open to the traffic roundabout, shows itself to the landscape and public, becoming a sort of urban lamp and architectural sign in the night.

Searching for the value of simplicity is the end of a long and complex design process, in this case a way to give more quality to industrial buildings.
