Text description provided by architect.

The transformation of the old school premises in the new CECOCRE has been made with a special tool, A Training Workshop comprised of 37 young people, who made available to the project the practical objectives of its program.

The educational structure of the school, with training capacity exclusively for the fields of masonry, painting buildings, electricity and gardening, was the essential constraint to establish a project that should be compatible with that particular range of resources.

During construction, the old facility would house the theoretical and practical activities of the school and the curriculum of the program would make the necessary adjustments to convert the place into the new Center for Knowledge and Creation (CECOCRE) of Torre Pacheco.

A proper reading had to identify the target program with existing buildings and crafts available.

Thus we sought the restructuring of outdoor spaces by rethinking the vegetation around the sports tracks, so as to resume connections with the rest of the EDUDIS complex, and services in the old classrooms were restored.

The construction of outdoor furniture emphasized the use of the original courtyard as a natural meeting place for various cultural activities that the building houses, and the painted finishes use camouflage patterns to link the soft areas with the hard areas, and clad the building with a domestic character and shades of color.

The center is fortunate to arise from a collaboration between resources that remained dormant because they were unpaired.

The current configuration is a direct outgrowth of the work of young actors with the opportunity to access specialized training and employment, who got intimately involved in the process.

The architecture is echoed literally from the transformation they lived, and transmits in its form a social vocation which the new program also inherits.

Art and craftsmen are satisfied due to what is both a cause and consequence.
