Text description provided by architect.
This area, as a popular public space, existed since the 19th century, but in 1958 was lost by the city.
In 2014, under the leadership of the city activist Valentin Nagovitsyn, a volunteer movement was organized, the main goal of which was the revival of the city garden in the heart of the city of Glazov.
In 2017, the movement was joined by architect Ivan Kovalev, who created an improvement project that won the rating vote among residents.
THE ORIGIN OF THE PROJECT CONCEPT
In 2010, the Central square of The city - freedom square was reconstructed. The adjacent pedestrian alley along the Bank of the Cheptsa river remained untouched (which together represents the former territory of the city garden).
The uniqueness of this area is striking to the naked eye:
1) It is a transit with a large daily traffic between the most densely populated areas of the city, passing in the center.
2) Only here in the Central part of the city there is a single descent to the river
Despite the large cross-country and proximity to the Central square of the city, this area is almost not served by public services, as the city plans were considered thickets and was not assigned to the management companies.
That is why the organizers of the project (ordinary citizens of the city) had the idea of improvement of this territory, and after studying the history, it was decided to create a volunteer movement for the revival of the “Glazov’s town garden”, which historically was located on this site.
